Fishing Report - November 6, 2015

Posted on

Before I get into the report details I wanted to mention that we will be having our annualBlack Friday sale again this year. It will be on Friday Nov. 27th and Saturday the 28th. Every item in the store will be on sale so don't miss it!

Also, our hours will be changing effective Monday the 9th.

Late Fall Hours:
Mon to Fri - 6am to 6pm
Saturday - 6am to 6pm
Sunday - 6am to 5pm
STRIPED BASS- There are a lot of small bass in the area right now. I tried 3 local shore spots a few nights ago and found small bass popping on silversides at each spot. Other people have reported similar results. The bass are still in the CT River and surrounding local beaches from Westbrook to Old Lyme. The Waterford area has lots of small bass as well. The best reports we've heard have been from the boat guys fishing Long Sand Shoal. We've gotten great reports there the past few days. A few days ago there were schools of bass on top at the Shoal for hours. These fish ranged in size from schoolies up to the mid 30" range.

BLUEFISH- There are giant bluefish in the area right now and we've had been some of the best fishing of the year for bluefish going on all week. Many customers have been weighing in giant bluefish all week in the high teen range. It seems like if you can find adult bunker you will find the bluefish. People have been fishing bunker as well as topwater baits like poppers. Areas mentioned have been around Cornfield Point, Half Tide Rock, the mouth of the CT River, the Old Saybrook Town Beach and the Westbrook area.

SEA BASS - The guys still targeting them are doing very well. People have reported no trouble limiting out.

FALSE ALBACORE - We've heard nothing this week.

BLACKFISH- Still going strong and the nice calm weather has enabled many people to get out this week. We had one customer bring in two 9 lb fish to weigh yesterday and we've weighed other numerous fish in the 6 to 7 lb. range this week. Our Rivers End tournament leader is still a 13.55 pounder caught last Sunday. Most guys are still doing well fishing shallow.
